From 2014 until spring 2018 Sonja Bleuland van Oordt led the National Health Prevention Program All about health… in the Netherlands. The aim of this national program was to make the Dutch population more healthy and vital and to diminish the growth of the number of people with chronic diseases and the socioeconomic health differences between groups of people. Sonja and her team created a societal bottom-up movement with more than 3000 organisations contributing with healthy activities signed up for in 375 pledges. The philosophy behind this ´whole of society´ approach is to adapt the environment where people live, learn, work, care and relax by engaging all kind of organisations in society that influence that environment. By changing the environment people are empowered to make healthier choices in their behaviour.
